Build the Skills to Get Hired and Stay Employed
Looking for a job is only the first step. Long term success comes from developing the confidence, communication, and workplace habits that employers value every day.
Project Beacon is excited to offer a FREE – two Saturday Job Readiness & Employability Workshop for adults with autism or other neurodiversities who are ready to build practical employment and independent living skills.
This workshop is made possible through funding from the Montgomery County Community Development Block Grant.
Getting ready for employment takes more than completing an application. It takes preparation, communication, confidence, and an understanding of what employers expect in the workplace.
Career Readiness 101 is a virtual employment skills program designed for individuals age 16 and older with autism, ADHD, or other neurodiversities.
Through a series of one hour virtual courses, participants will learn practical skills they can use while searching for employment, preparing for interviews, and building positive workplace habits.

Career Readiness 101 features six one hour virtual courses, each focused on a specific employment or workplace skill.

Learn what employers expect from employees and develop an understanding of workplace responsibilities, professionalism, and habits that can support success on the job.

Build practical workplace literacy skills, including understanding information, following directions, completing tasks, and communicating effectively in a work environment.

Explore the attitudes, behaviors, and preparation strategies that can help you approach the job search with confidence and professionalism.

The goal is to help participants build practical skills they can carry with them from the job search into the workplace.
Career Readiness 101 is designed for individuals age 16 and older with autism, ADHD, or other neurodiversities who are interested in developing employment and workplace skills.
Participants should be able to participate in a virtual group learning environment with minimal support and demonstrate basic communication and social skills.
This program is designed for group instruction and does not provide 1:1 behavior support during the virtual sessions.
Career Readiness 101 is funded through a federal grant administered through Montgomery County’s Community Development Block Grant program.
Because this program is federally funded, participants are required to provide eligibility documentation and demographic information as part of the enrollment process.
Required documentation includes:
• Government issued photo ID
• Social Security Card
• Proof of disability through one of the following:
• SSI documentation
• Texas Workforce documentation
• Physician’s diagnosis
• Required demographic information
The requested information is required to verify eligibility and meet federal grant reporting requirements.

Once your documentation has been received and eligibility has been verified, an application will be sent to you.
