FREE Job Readiness & Employability Workshop

Build the Skills to Get Hired and Stay Employed

Looking for a job is only the first step. Long term success comes from developing the confidence, communication, and workplace habits that employers value every day.

Project Beacon is excited to offer a FREE – two Saturday Job Readiness & Employability Workshop for adults with autism or other neurodiversities who are ready to build practical employment and independent living skills.

This workshop is made possible through funding from the Montgomery County Community Development Block Grant.

Workshop Dates

Part 1
Saturday, August 22
9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Part 2
Saturday, August 29
9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Attendance at both workshop dates is required to receive the full benefit of the program.

What You Will Learn

Participants will gain practical skills that can be used throughout the job search process and in the workplace, including:

  • Finding employment opportunities

  • Preparing for job interviews

More Than Job Preparation

This workshop is designed to help participants develop the habits employers look for while building greater confidence and independence.

Participants will leave with skills that support:

  • Increased confidence during the job search
  • Better interview preparation
  • Stronger workplace communication
  • Professional behavior and work habits
  • Greater independence
  • Long term employment success

Our goal is not simply to help participants find employment. Our goal is to help them build the skills needed to succeed, grow, and remain employed.

Eligibility Requirements

To ensure a safe and positive experience for all participants, Beacon SMILES programs are designed for individuals who can participate with minimal support and demonstrate basic communication and social skills in a group setting.

Required Documentation

To participate in this program, applicants must provide:

  • Government issued photo ID
  • Social Security Card
  • Proof of disability through one of the following:
    • SSI documentation
    • Texas Workforce documentation
    • Physician’s diagnosis
